Its name implies ‘one-sided headache’, related to the rarity of lighting source in the past. Migraines tend to be worse on the side of dominant eye.  Resulting from prolonged contraction of facial muscles including orbital/periorbital muscles. Lack of blood supply results from prolonged contraction (while reading or working on a screen)

Suggestions for Prevention:

  • Frequent nodding or smiling to minimize stress expression on face.
  • Patterned muscle contractions during social interactions
  • Improvement of pain when facial muscles are relaxed (sleeping or in dark room)
