Plantar Fascitis

Symptoms Can Include:

  • Sharp pain in the arch or heal

Relationship to Body Structure and Behavior:

  • The passive structures of the foot arch are not sufficient during weight bearing of stance phase
  • The intrinsic muscles of foot will be very important upon weight bearing
  • If the intrinsic muscles are not engaged during weight bearing, the force of weight will impact the passive structures of the arch
  • Lifting of the toes and front of foot will stretch intrinsic muscles
  • Flip-flop shoes will prevent the very important stimulation of the activation of foot intrinsic muscles

Suggestions for Prevention:

Stop using flip-flops for good.
Don’t let your children use them.
When you walk, bend  your knees, lift your knees up, and put  your head down.
Visual engagement while looking down will help restore the dynamic accuracy and force spread: the reason that you feel better in natural environments.
